Position Description:
The Design Engineer develops the design of all structural members and appurtenances for the building products offered by the company. The Design Engineer incorporates the requirements of MBMA, AISC, and ASCE into company drawings and instructions. The Design Engineer stamps and seals final drawings and project calculations offered to the customer or responsible Building Official.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Develops complete and thorough designs meeting approved contract documents.
o Verifies updates to the design software comply with current MBMA and ASCE design requirements.
o Incorporates customer change requests into project design.
o Establishes the materials to be used in company fabrication.
o Reviews shop detail drawings and structural drawings prior to final release.
Qualification/Skills:
o Professional Engineer, licensed by the State of Utah.
o Structural design experience.
o Drafting knowledge and experience.
o Ability to use Metal Building Software computer program.
o Ability to use AutoCAD computer program.
o Ability to interpret the MBMA Metal Building Systems Manual and incorporate its' requirements into company design.
o Ability to interpret the AISC Manual of Steel Construction and incorporate its' requirements into company design.
Education Requirements
B.A./M.A. in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
